1. What are the benefits of joining the Science Teacher Tribe Course + Community membership?

Professional development is the focus of our membership site, and we offer twelve self-paced workshops designed to walk you through all aspects of your NGSS transition, from developing your classroom curriculum to actually implementing NGSS-style instruction. The course will guide you through developing engaging, coherent units of instruction that improve student understanding, motivation, and ownership of the learning. It will help you use formative assessment to guide instruction without reinventing the wheel, build science and engineering skills and abilities in each of your students, and meet the needs of all learners in your classroom.

On top of that, you get an All Access Pass to regular Q&A sessions,  an invitation to our monthly Strategy Spotlight sessions (the last one walked you through creating NGSS-aligned assessments!), and the opportunity to participate in our exclusive private Facebook Community - where you can find support from experts and fellow teachers alike.

Last but not least, you get access to a growing library of sample NGSS-aligned resources to use in their entirety or as a model for your own classroom material.  While we are NOT a lesson plan bank, our goal is to provide exemplars to help you understanding what NGSS-aligned material looks and sounds like.

2. How does the NGSS Your Science Class work?

The Science Teacher Tribe workshop series is a self-paced course. You have access to the full material as long as you remain a member. Each module includes a series of videos and a workbook to guide you through the process. Audio-only versions are also available so you can stream them at the gym, while you're cooking, or in the car. You also have opportunity to ask questions in our exclusive Facebook Community and address your needs through your All Access Pass to our regular Q&A coaching sessions. Get answers from experts to help you implement the NGSS in YOUR class with YOUR students.

Lastly, as a member of the course, you can participate in our monthly Strategy Spotlights designed to highlight instructional practices and approaches that truly work. The best part about our Strategy Spotlight is that each topic is selected based on our members' needs.

3. What types of resources are included in the membership?

The short answer is A VARIETY! The library is still small, but our goal for 2019 is to dramatically expand this library to support the specific standards you are teaching. As it stands now, these resources range from teacher tools (like Science Starter templates, Claim Evidence Reasoning rubrics, and curriculum reflection worksheets) to ready-to-go classroom activities (like the Light Waves Stations Lab, Biome In A Box Project, and Earthquake Analysis activity). We are also adding three-dimensional assessments that you can use at the end of a unit that are fully aligned to the standards and include all necessary materials -- task sheets, organizers, and rubrics.

4. Can I get course credit?

It is up to your school or district to sponsor or provide the "official" professional development hours recognized by your state, but we can verify the completion of course workshops and tasks for them to do so.  Follow the instructions to complete and submit each Performance Task for the NGSS Your Science Class Course modules.  Then, compile your tasks into your digital portfolio and request your Certificate of Completion, documenting the 25 hours you put into the NGSS Your Science Class workshops and coursework.  

5. Can I work with you individually? 

Yes! The Teacher PLUS membership includes up to two one-hour private academic coaching sessions each month, plus email support as needed. If you find you need additional help developing your curriculum, planning your units and lessons, or developing assessments, I can work with you one-on-one to get the job done.

8. What is your cancellation policy?

Due to the nature of digital products, we can only offer a 50% refund if a request is received within 24 hours of the initial payment (and no promotions were applied).
