1. What are the benefits of joining the iExploreScience Teacher Tribe membership?
The iExploreScience Teacher Tribe community will save you time and headache trying to understand and implement the Next Generation Science Standards on your own. The NGSS Your Science Class course, which is included at all membership levels, is designed to walk you through developing your classroom curriculum from the topics and performance expectations you have been assigned to teach. The course will guide you through developing engaging, coherent units of instruction that improve student understanding, motivation, and ownership of the learning. It will help you use formative assessment to guide instruction without reinventing the wheel, build science and engineering skills and abilities in each of your students, and meet the needs of all learners in your classroom.
On top of that, you get an All Access Pass to a weekly Q&A session, an invitation to our monthly Strategy Spotlight sessions, and the opportunity to participate in our exclusive private Facebook Community. get access to a growing library of NGSS-aligned resources to use in their entirety or as a model for your own classroom material.
Last but not least, you get unlimited downloads from our growing library of NGSS-aligned resources to use in their entirety or as a model for your own classroom material.
The Science Teacher Tribe was built for YOU. We are here to help, providing support, guidance, and sometimes just a listening ear.
2. How does the NGSS Your Science Class work?
NGSS Your Science Class is a self-paced course, so learning occurs on your timeline. Each module includes a series of videos and a workbook to guide you through the process. Audio-only versions are also available. You also have opportunities to ask questions in our private Facebook group and chat "in person" during our weekly academic coaching meetings.
Lastly, as a member of the course, you can request feedback on your own curriculum, instructional materials, and strategies from instructors who know these standards.
3. What types of resources are included in the membership?
The short answer is A VARIETY! The library is still small, but we are posting new resources regularly. These range from teacher tools (like Science Starter templates, Claim Evidence Reasoning rubrics, and curriculum reflection worksheets) to ready-to-go classroom activities (like the Light Waves Stations Lab, Biome In A Box Project, and Earthquake Analysis activity). We are also adding three-dimensional assessments that you can use at the end of a unit that are fully aligned to the standards and include all necessary materials -- task sheets, organizers, and rubrics.
4. Can I work with you individually?
Yes! The Teacher PLUS membership includes two one-hour sessions of private academic coaching each month, plus email support as needed. If you find you need additional help developing your curriculum, planning your units and lessons, or developing assessments, I can work with you one-on-one to get the job done.
